Meet Dr. Tayyab
Introduction
Dr. Shazia Tayyab is a board-certified psychiatrist providing care for adults, children, and adolescents. She completed her adult psychiatry residency from Rosalind Franklin University and Child/ Adolescent psychiatry fellowship from Northwestern University. She has spent her career serving patients in the region, combining rigorous medical expertise with a deep commitment to her community.
Dr. Tayyab brings clarity to complex clinical situations, helping patients and families make informed, medically sound decisions. Her practice is structured to support focused, individualized work that prioritizes careful assessment and consistent follow-through.
Philosophy of Care
Dr. Tayyab’s approach is grounded in evidence-based medicine, clinical rigor, and thoughtful judgment. Treatment decisions are informed by a comprehensive understanding of each patient’s unique history and symptoms.
Families receive clear, balanced information regarding treatment options and risks, ensuring decisions are made collaboratively. Because care is longitudinal, Dr. Tayyab emphasizes ongoing evaluation and adjustment, allowing treatment to evolve with the patient’s needs.
Psychiatry and Obesity Medicine Integration
In addition to adult and child & adolescent psychiatry, Dr. Tayyab is board-certified in obesity medicine. This expertise reflects her focus on the intersection of metabolic health, psychiatric symptoms, and treatment side effects.
While this practice is not a weight-loss clinic, obesity medicine principles are integrated when psychiatric treatment—specifically medication management—impacts weight or metabolism. Addressing these factors can often improve both psychiatric outcomes and general health.
This integrated approach also helps reduce the stigma often associated with weight and metabolic changes in mental health settings. By addressing these topics clinically and respectfully, Dr. Tayyab provides comprehensive care without requiring patients to fragment their treatment across multiple providers.
