Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. The practice participates with a range of insurance plans. Because coverage and contracted rates vary by insurer and plan, patients are encouraged to contact the office directly to confirm participation and benefits prior to scheduling.

  • Yes, the practice is currently accepting new patients for both adult and child/adolescent psychiatric care. Availability may vary, and all new patients begin with an intake process coordinated through the office.

  • Both initial and follow up appointments are offered either in person or via telehealth, for the convenience of patients. It is recommended for the initial appointment to be in person.

  • The initial appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation focused on understanding current concerns, relevant medical and psychiatric history, and overall functioning.

Following this assessment, Dr. Tayyab discusses:

    • Diagnostic impressions and clinical considerations

    • Medication options, including benefits and potential side effects when appropriate

    • Therapy recommendations

    • Lifestyle strategies such as sleep, stress, and nutrition

    • Laboratory testing or referrals if needed

Patients and families are encouraged to ask questions, including about alternatives to medication, expected timelines for improvement, and what to monitor moving forward. The goal is clarity and informed decision-making, not rushed conclusions.

  • New patients are asked to contact the office directly to begin the intake process. This allows appropriate screening, coordination, and scheduling.

An initial phone consultation may be offered to determine whether psychiatric evaluation is appropriate. Following this conversation, patients may be given the option to schedule an appointment through a secure, embedded scheduler when appropriate.

    To begin the intake process:
    Phone: 847-680-2715 (Ext. 223)
    Email: cprice@counselingconnections.net

  • Appointment policies, including cancellations and rescheduling, are reviewed during the intake process. Patients are asked to notify the office as early as possible if they need to cancel or reschedule an appointment so that care can be managed appropriately.

  • People often seek psychiatric care when symptoms begin to interfere with daily functioning—such as work or school performance, relationships, sleep, or overall quality of life—or when prior treatment has not provided sufficient clarity or lasting improvement.

Care may also be helpful when symptoms feel complex, overlapping, or difficult to understand, and a comprehensive medical perspective is needed to guide next steps.

  • A psychiatric evaluation can be helpful when there is uncertainty about diagnosis, treatment options, or medication decisions, or when symptoms have not responded as expected to prior care. Patients and families often seek evaluation to better understand how different symptoms may be related and to receive clear, medically grounded guidance.

  • A psychiatric evaluation is approached as a careful clinical process rather than a single decision point. It involves a detailed review of current concerns, medical and psychiatric history, and contributing factors, with attention to both symptoms and overall functioning.

Treatment recommendations are discussed thoughtfully and adjusted over time as needed, with the goal of improving clarity, stability, and long-term functioning.
